Emil

Here I am back. Some of you may have been wondering why I have disappeared. Well, I have an explanation for that. A good one, I hope. On May 3rd 2008 I became a father! My son’s name is Emil and he is the cutest baby on Earth! :-) And being a father and a photographer at the same time is a “dangerous” thing - my Lightroom library started growing in an insanely quick way. Here he is - Emilek (that’s how we call him in Polish):

Guarneri Trio Prague

One week ago I visited Prague. I always come back to this beautiful town with pleasure. There is so much to photograph, there is so much history, character and unique charm everywhere you look around. But this time the main purpose of my visit in Prague was a a photo session with Guarneri Trio Prague. We were working on some more informal portraits of the renowned Czech ensemble and here are some samples of my work from that afternoon:

Enrico

Once again I had a great pleasure of photographing a charming fellow, Enrico - 6 months old son of my good friends. Natural, spontaneous nature of Enrico and the beautiful afternoon light resulted in these nice portraits.

Winter does not give up

It is not that common that you spend Easter with the snow falling down outside the window here in Switzerland. But this year Swiss spring is quite cold, indeed. I took these couple of photographs some 10 days ago in a forest of Horw - small town located just next to Lucerne.

Train station in Basel

One of those moments when we often do not know what to do with time is - waiting for a train. And train stations themselves are very often those kind of places, which we “kind of know”, but not really know… Yesterday, while waiting for a train in Basel, I realized that also the Basel train station has many “off the beaten track” corners.

Klewenalp in black and white

After yesterday’s trip up to the Klewenalp I ended up with some nice black & white photographs. The terrain of the mountainy area and strong rays of sun produced a fascinating play of shadows of various intensities. The spectacle reminded me of Ansel Adams’ zone system.

Observations

Today something more of an experimental nature. Two photographs I took while waiting for a bus. You never know when an inspiration will strike you…

Liam

Aren’t children the best photo models? So natural, not aware of the existence of a camera. Liam, son of my good friends is such a photogenic fellow!

Agnieszka Grzybowska

A couple of days ago I was photographing the young, promising Polish percussionist, Agnieszka Grzybowska. We were working on the pictures in a tiny, relatively dark room, so my only hope was my Canon Speedlite flash and some pieces of white fabric hanging up on the ceiling. Considering the circumstances, I am pretty pleased with the results.

Observations

Some of the photographs I am most happy with come into being in some moments I would never expect them to do so… I experienced such moments twice today: during having my breakfast in the kitchen and on my way back from work:
